The Supreme Court reserved its order on a batch of petitions challenging the Medical Council of India’s regulations dealing with reservation to in-service candidates in admission to post-graduate medical courses in respect of 50 per cent seats allocated to states.


According to CBSE – NEET-2018

Many students have not been allotted their first/second choice NEET examination centre.

Under any circumstances, NO CHANGE can be made in the allotted centre.

The centres are not allotted on first cum first serve basis.

The total registrations for the NEET increase Two Lakh.

Over 13.36 lakh registered for NEET 2018 , When 11.5 lakh registered in 2017

The total number of seats in MBBS/ BDS across the country Sixty thousand.

The Supreme Court has referred to a Constitution Bench to urgently consider whether reservation in favour of in-service candidates in respect of 50% of the seats granted to the States under the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations of 2000, as framed by the Medical Council of India, is unconstitutional.

A three-judge Bench, led by Justice Kurian Joseph, asked the petitioner, Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association, to mention the case before the Chief Justice of India on April 16. It further issued notice to States concerned, Union of India and Medical Council of India.

Candidate may note that admit cards will not be sent by post. When candidate will download the admit card, a copy of the same in pdf format will also be emailed to the candidate on the registered email id.  The Admit Card will bear the candidate’s Roll Number, Name, Father’s Name, Category, Sub-Category, Photograph, Signature, Date of Birth, Language of Question Paper with Name and Address of examination centre allotted.

With just 5% marks in physics, less than 10% in chemistry, and 20-odd per cent in the biology section of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), candidates have got admission to medical colleges in the past two years. This was made possible by the “percentile” system under NEET that was supposed to keep non-meritorious students out.

New Delhi: In the latest update that is sure to bring hope to thousands of students, the Delhi High Court has asked Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE not to reject the applications of the open school students who have applied for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2018 examination. PTI reports.

The Union health ministry has mooted a proposal to amend the Medical Council of India (MCI) Regulation to make it mandatory for all the medical colleges both government and private in the country to compulsorily start post graduate medical courses from the academic year 2020-21.


According to the amendments made to the Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, of the Medical Council of India (MCI), all existing medical colleges will have to start Post Graduate (PG) courses from academic year 2020-21 indicating a huge influx of Post Graduate medical seats in Medical Colleges.

The amended regulations by MCI will also apply to new medical colleges, besides dealing with existing private and government colleges.

New medical colleges will also have to start PG courses within three years of receiving recognition for running undergraduate courses and institutions failing to comply with new regulations will lose their recognition informed a Health Ministry official.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the MCI amendments and the new regulations would to be notified soon, reported PTI.


CHENNAI: The management of the Christian Medical College, Vellore, is awaiting the Supreme Court verdict to decide on admissions for MBBS and PG courses to the college in 2018. It is also speaking to officials seeking autonomy to admit students, its director Dr J V Peter said.
